Private coaching
One-on-one sailing instruction designed entirely around you. We work on your boat in San Diego Bay or nearby waters, or aboard a J/World training vessel — whichever makes more sense for your goals.
Every session starts with a conversation about where you are and where you want to go. From there it's hands-on, practical, and focused. No syllabus to follow, no class to keep pace with — just the specific skills you need, taught the way that works best for you.
Good for: beginners building confidence, intermediate sailors filling gaps, boat owners getting comfortable on a new vessel, sailors preparing for a J/World course or certification.
performance coaching
If you're serious about racing, J/World's race clinics are the best place to start — and I teach them. Race Week puts you on the water with a focused group, structured coaching, and the kind of competitive environment that accelerates learning fast.
For sailors who've completed a clinic and want to go further — or who are looking for focused work between regattas — I offer private performance coaching tailored to your racing program. Tactics, trim, boathandling, crew communication, starts, mark roundings. We work on what your racing actually needs.
Good for: racers who've completed J/World clinics and want to go deeper, competitive sailors preparing for a specific regatta, crews working on communication and consistency.
charter captain
Sometimes you just want to enjoy the sail. As a USCG licensed captain, I'm available to take the helm for day sails, private charters, special events, and yacht deliveries in San Diego and along the Southern California coast.
I handle navigation, safety, and boat management — you focus on the water, the company, and the experience. Whether it's a sunset cruise in the bay, a coastal passage, or a delivery to another port, I'll get you there safely and enjoyably.
It's also a great option after completing your bareboat certification at J/World — a relaxed way to build confidence and hours on the water with an experienced captain alongside you.
Good for: post-certification hour building, private day sails and events, yacht deliveries, sailors who want an experienced hand on board for a passage
